Moong dal khichidi

Ingredients:

2 3/4 cups rice

3/4 cup split moong dal

1/2 onion

10 green chillies

1 potato cubed

5-6 coriander leaves chopped

4 curry leaves

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

1/2 tbsp jeera

Pinch of fenugreek powder

3 cardamon

3 cloves

1/4 inch cinnamon stick

1/2 tsp turmeric

Salt to taste

6 tsp oil

1 tbsp butter

 Method:

  • Heat the oil  and butter.
  • Add  jeera, cardamon, cloves and cinnamon.
  • After they brown up a little, add onions and chillies.
  • Fry until onion becomes translucent. Add ginger garlic paste and turmeric.
  • Fry for a few seconds and add potatoes.
  • Fry for a minute and add rice.
  • Fry for a minute and add double the amount of water.
  • Cook until it is done, almost 20 mts and enjoy.
  • We enjoyed ours with raita.
