My weekend

My weekend and short blogging break

Weekend came and went. It makes me sad sometimes as weeks go by and my daughter is getting bigger everyday. She is walking and she doesn’t like to be held too much. Iam happy that she is a happy baby and healthy. This weekend we went to my sister-in-law’s place. Trip was little hectic because she didn’t want to sit in the carseat.She wanted to get down and play. We had a nice time there and got back on sunday night. Their place feels like we are in  india. There are lot of indians.

I forgot my camera in my sister-in-law’s place. I won’t get it back for 2 weeks. I feel like running there and getting my camera back but that won’t happen. I wanted to post so many new things, but i guess we have to wait. I  will check the blog regularly, so please drop in your comments.

Fried rice

Today’s brunch is fried rice, aloo parathas and spicy curd.

We call this rice as ” Poppu Annam”. Simple to make and very satisfying. This is my mother in law’s recipe. So here it goes………

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked rice

3 tbsp onion

1 clove of garlic crushed

1 large green chilli

3 sprigs of coriander leaves

2 curry leaves

1/4 tsp combination of jeera and mustard seeds

Pinch of turmeric

1 tbsp of peanuts

salt according to your taste

Method:

  • Separate rice so that there are no lumps.
  • Heat 2-3 tbsp of oil.
  • Add jeera and mustard seeds.
  • After they sputter, add peanuts.
  • Fry until they are little brown and add onions, green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Fry until onions become translucent and add turmeric.
  • Mix everything once and then add rice and salt.
  • Mix everything nicely and keep on the stove for 2-3 mts.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and yummy rice is ready.
